When I was preparing to bring my puppy home I thought there were just 2 sides. Positive Only - where you only use food & rewards to teach your dog how to behave.
or you hit your dog in order to scare them enough into listening to you.
Now of course to me at the time the choice was very clear. Food and praise and love was the only clear way forward. So that is what I did. And this certainly worked! Until it didnt. Max started showing signs of aggression, there were times when it didn't matter what delicous treat I had in my hand or how 'excting' I was, this dog would just not listen. It then got to the point where things were getting more and more stressful, he was reacting to almost every dog we come across and this dream I had of owner the perfect rottweiler was quickly disappearing. But I was still so confused, as surely physcially punishing my dog can't be my only option.
THIS IS WHEN P.R.A.M.A COMES IN...
P.R.A.M.A
Positive Reinforment and Minimally Aversive
Essentially using reward based training but where needed it also allows for an effective, non-abusive way of correcting a dog and enforcing boundaries
After finding the founder of PRAMA training, Robert Alleyne, I finally realised there was a better option when it comes to training dogs.
I then completed 2 week intensive training courses at the C.I.A HQ in Suffolk. Obtaining 2 Diplomas
After mastering the art of PRAMA training and helping hundreds of owners with their dogs, I now assist Robert Alleyne at The Canine Instructor Academy where new trainers journey's are just about to begin.
